What the tournament supports…

You won’t believe the difference you make.

Breakfast Program

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but 1 in 5 children in Canada go to school on an empty stomach.

We are here to change that.

Our breakfast program provides a free nutritional breakfast to our members on school days, followed by transportation to six schools in our area.

After School Program

We use a 15-passenger vans and a 60-passeger bus that travel daily to six school in Summerside and Miscouche to pick up Club members. The youth are transported back to the Club where they will receive a healthy snack prepared by the club staff.

While at the club the children are able to complete their homework, make crafts in the craft room, play in the gymnasium, play cards/board games, watch a movie in our theatre or go to our local park as part of our structured programming offered until 6 pm Monday to Friday. Participants also get access to the Credit Union Place for swimming, bowling, use of the walking track and ice pad.

Project BackPack

Project BackPack is all about supporting the people in our community who need it most.

Each month we deliver almost 6000 meals to those in need in and around the Summerside area.

With the rising prices, this program is becoming more and more needed, and we are proud to be there for the people who need it most.

LifeHouse

The first of its kind in our area, LifeHouse Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing is committed to offering services for women, trans and non-binary individuals and their children who find themselves temporarily homeless due to a variety of factors (e.g. eviction, job loss, violence, exiting treatment programs) and are in a time of transition in their lives.

The now

Transitional housing will offer:

  • Assistance for women and families for up to 1 year to transition to independent living either in an apartment sourced on their own or to our 24 Unit permanent affordable housing

  • On-site staff

  • Enhanced services such as financial literacy and supports related to building self esteem

  • Parenting support, access to information and education on domestic violence, crisis and emotional support for women and children

  • Construction began in May, 2023!

The progress

to be completed in

Fall 2024

BGC Prince County recognizes the need for roots and belonging, the need to have a place to call home, as well as the need for community support.

To break the cycle of homelessness and reduce the need for emergency shelter, women need safe and affordable housing to call their own.

Homeless women cannot begin to rebuild their lives without a secure and stable roof over their heads, and without accompanying support. Without access to affordable housing, the reality is that vulnerable women simply don't have the possibility of establishing a permanent home, however modest.
